Does Cerave Double Cleanse Strip my Skin?

As a woman with 58-year-old skin, I have to be very careful during my nightly double cleanse. I recently conducted an experiment to find out if Cerave Double Cleanse Strips my skin of natural oils.

As you may know already, CeraVe is well known for its skincare products that are developed to protect your skin barrier. I am especially fond of the green-label hydrating formulas.

In addition to protecting my skin barrier when I conduct a double cleanse for my face, I also don’t want a dry or tight feeling.

Step One of Evening Double Cleanse Routine for Mature Skin

I have been using the new Cerave Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm for several weeks as the first part of my double cleanse nighttime skin routine.

I use a smaller amount for this first step than I do with other solid cleansing balms. With this hydrating product, I just don’t need to use as much.

It does a fantastic job at melting off my makeup. During a typical day, I enjoy wearing sunscreen, pore-minimizing face primer, and liquid serum foundation.

After the initial application, I add some water to emulsify the cleansing balm. The lather that results is very soothing and relaxing to rub into my face every night. Then I simply rinse it off.

Step Two of my Nightly Cleanse

While my face is still wet, I use the iconic CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser – again it’s a green label.

This cleanser is amazing for the second part of a CeraVe double cleanse. Milky, creamy facial cleansers are the only way to go if you have dry skin. Clear gel cleansers will strip your skin of natural oils

I have used this CeraVe cleanser for years. It has never let me down. Always gentle, never drying.

Pat your face dry with a soft towel and let it air dry a few minutes before you apply your first nightly serum. Most of them work better on a semi-dry face.
